Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett's who were steeped in style

Fashion Columnist Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett's talent was undeniable, but it was their authentic sense of style that made them among the last of a dying breed: the true celebrity fashion icon.

As the world continues to mourn the loss of two great entertainers, Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, television networks are filling their schedules with specials, tributes and past shows featuring the two stars.

Just look at how we've spent the last week remembering their legacies.

Seconds after we learned of the Charlie's Angel's demise, Twitter and Facebook came alive with remembrances of the perfectly feathered hair and wonderfully white teeth of the 1970s beauty.

Jackson and Fawcett were hallmarks of my carefree childhood. For the last week, their images have been fixed in my mind's eye.

Back then, it was much harder to get our hands on celebrity pictures - and even more difficult to get pics of black stars - so the posters of Michael Jackson dressed in all white with a yellow button-up vest were cherished almost to the point of worship.

The image of Fawcett wearing a red/orange bathing suit, her head playfully cocked backward, leaves the strongest impression. In those days, we couldn't pick up an OK! or Us magazine to see Fawcett buying coffee, shopping, or building a house; still, her hairstyle ruled, crossing over to Chaka Khan and Clair Huxtable, who sported a 1980s fluffy version

Demi Moore Bush Picture

I noticed that there was a lot of searches for Demi Moore Bush picture this morning and of course had to find out what this was all about. Apparently Daniel Tosh of Comedy Central posted a video on a popular video sharing site asking people to search for “Demi Moore Bush”, actually “Demi Moore George Bush picture”, but leave out the George.

Then he said look for “Demi Moore Mr Bush” leaving out the Mr, then he said “Demi Moore look at that bush” but you don’t need to include the look at that part.

I had finally found out why there was so many searches for Demi Moore Bush picture, so I then googled Demi Moore bush and Aghhhhhhhhhhh! Look it up for yourself.

Jewelry Trend Alert: Flaunt Your Arm Candy

From oversized statement jewels to sunny yellow gold, the sizzling jewelry trends of the season are nothing if not dramatic. But the latest must-have look is all in the wrist.

Bangles:

Marc Jacobs put them elbow-deep on Madonna for those amazing Louis Vuitton ads, and the fashion world followed suit. There's no better way to add a little 'clink' to your closet than with layered bangles in every color of the rainbow. Or go for a classic yellow gold set like Kate Hudson to make that swimwear sizzle or the board room shine.

Cuffs:

Getting cuffed never looked this good. From Halle Berry to First Lady, Michelle Obama, the easy-to-wear jewelry style is making a big splash this season. While most wrist wear jewels are a slim single strand, cuffs cover more square footage, giving women that highly coveted 'big look for the buck'. And they go with just about any outfit - from girls night out garb to jeans and a tank.

Charms:

Charm bracelets have been in demand since 500 BC, when the ancients carved gems and rocks into animal symbols and wore them to woo the gods. Thank heavens they've come a long way since then, with celebs like Gwen Stefani and Nicole Richie adding them to their accessory lines and fashionistas collecting them like Manolos and Birkin bags. Create a charm bracelet to remind you of family, to reflect your personality, or to show off your world travels. And Jewelry.com has a treasure chest full of them to help you get the look that's right for you or your loved one.

We're nearly halfway through New York's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. And so far, the most constant theme is the fashion world's continual obsession with Michelle Obama. Questions abound: Will she show up? (No.) But is that the White House social secretary sitting next to Vogue's Anna Wintour? (Yes.) Which of these dresses might the first lady wear? (Probably few.) And which colorful sheaths were directly inspired by her? (Unclear, but it's safe to say several.)

Economic gloom clouds London Fashion Week

LONDON, (AFP) – Designers at London Fashion Week, which starts Friday, have reacted to the credit crunch by toning down extravagant collections and opting for intimate showings rather than catwalk spectaculars.

Names like Antoni & Alison, Duro Olowu and Maria Grachvogel -- whose clients include Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson and Victoria Beckham -- have organised smaller scale "presentations" for journalists and buyers.

Less costly than a catwalk show, most of them will use plastic rather than human mannequins.

"Given the current economic climate, I feel it is more a time of focusing on genuine creativity rather than unnecessary extravagance," Olowu told the Daily Telegraph.

"With a catwalk show, you are looking at spending 25,000-40,000 pounds, often more, and given what has happened in the last few months, many designers are having to reassess their business choices."

PARIS – Ted Lapidus, the fashion designer who redefined chic with the 1960s unisex look, has died in France. He was 79.

President Nicolas Sarkozy, in an homage to the designer, said Lapidus "democratized French elegance and classicism" and "made fashion accessible to men and women in the street."

Lapidus died of pulmonary problems Monday afternoon at a hospital in Cannes on the Riviera, his sister Rose Torrente-Mett said. He also suffered from leukemia.

Born Edmond Lapidus on June 23, 1929, in Paris, the son of a tailor, Ted Lapidus created his label in 1951, and in 1963 he became a member of the prestigious Paris fashion club that runs haute-couture, La Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture.

'Russell Brand’s ruched leggings spawned an entire revival in the genre. He who dares leaves nothing to the imagination'

OK, it wasn’t a perfect year, but when it comes to Great Celluloid Fashion Moments, it was a triumph. This is quite a turn-up, because generally, the Hollywood cigars are so terrified of alienating the public with anything challenging that you end up with the editor of the world’s most powerful fashion magazine played by Meryl Streep dressed as Granny Walton.

When Louis Vuitton asked Madonna to be the face of its latest campaign, it made her an offer she couldn’t refuse

Madonna stars in the new Louis Vuitton Advertising Campaign Spring/Summer 2009

“This was really different,” explains Antoine Arnault, communications director of Louis Vuitton, when asked how Madonna came to front the company’s new spring/summer campaign. “Usually, these things take much, much longer,” he explains; a lengthy process of identifying the right person to embody the fashion and luxury-goods brand, the right photographer, the right look for the campaign, plus, of course, all the deal-making a project like this involves. This time, however, pretty much everything was agreed inside a week.
